I believe that most people have inside of them the knowledge of what they need to do to feel better, but are lacking the knowledge, skills, or tools they need to get there. My role as the therapist is to give you the safety to fully feel all of your feelings, the space to express your needs and wants, and the opportunity to learn and test out new skills and techniques. I believe in the healing power of fun, laughter, and creative expression, and use these as part of my evidence-based practice.

I help people of all ages, and backgrounds, but specialize in anxiety, depression, body-focused repetitive behaviors, grief, life stress, and family relationship issues.

I have worked in the mental health field for the past seven years in various roles. I have a Master of Education in Psychology – School Counseling from Utah State University and am working on earning my Clinical Mental Health Counselor license through Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions.

It takes a brave individual to reach for added support during hard times. The pace and complexity of the modern world can rob us of the balance and peace we crave. I celebrate the unique beauty of each individual and tailor treatment accordingly. I will create a safe, nonjudgmental place for you to navigate your feelings and find solutions to your most difficult challenges. The removal of shame and guilt, and the development of self-love will be central. Together, we will strive to identify what is not working in your life, and practice has proven pathways toward a more joyful life.

I have been married for 25 years and have 5 children. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Family Studies and Human Development from the University of Utah and am currently enrolled in the master’s program of Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Utah Valley University. As a student intern, I will work closely with the mentors and colleagues of my graduate studies, as well as those affiliated with Alliance Counseling Utah to provide you with the support and help you are seeking.

Let’s face it, few if anyone’s life goes according to plan. Challenges, obstacles, and hardships come to each of us, at times knocking us down on the ground. To get back on our feet, we may need a hand to lift us, be taught new skills, and receive encouragement to keep moving forward. There is meaning and purpose in life. It is my hope to work with you on your journey to find the satisfaction you seek.

With this goal in mind, I sought out opportunities to be qualified to effectively and compassionately do this work. I hold a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from the University of Utah, where I was involved with student organizations to advocate for diverse populations and to promote eating disorder awareness and education. I went on to earn a Master of Social Work Degree from Brigham Young University, where I completed a clinically-oriented program, focusing on therapeutic interventions and working with individuals, groups, and families. My research focused on the relationships between positive sibling relationships, family resiliency, and the metabolic control of children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes.

Throughout my post-graduate career, I’ve had diverse experiences working with teens, young adults, and adults. I have experience treating depression, anxiety, eating disorders (including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and dia-bulimia), grief, loss, addiction, diabetes, kidney disease, and other chronic conditions. I have worked in residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient levels of care. I completed training to teach Stanford University’s Living Well with Chronic Conditions, Diabetes, and Chronic Pain program. I have facilitated classes, helping many to better manage their physical and mental health. At my core, I’m passionate about helping people care for their bodies, mind, and soul.

I believe in the growth and potential of every person, and in the capacity to overcome. There is hope, meaning, and purpose in life. I look forward to helping you on your journey.

Mental health has the power to influence all aspects of a person’s life, including the ability to develop meaningful relationships and maintain self-functioning. With willingness and vulnerability, therapy can give a person back their life and empower them to reach their potential. My mantra is “follow your heart and take your brain with you.

I am here to help you heal and move forward in your life journey confidently and autonomously. I have experience with all ages through the lifespan in various settings. I received my Bachelor of Social Work and certificate in Substance Use Disorder Counseling from The University of Utah, and my Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago.

Therapy is one of the best forms of self-love and self-care. I applaud anyone who sets aside time and
makes space for working on their mental health, managing their stress, dealing with life transitions,
improving their relationships, addressing past trauma, or any other thing that might bring them to
therapy. I believe that each person is an expert on themselves and has an innate ability to heal. I
want to meet my clients in a spirit of collaboration and respect.

I began providing therapy 11 years ago and have enjoyed working with many kinds of people across
the age span from children to teens to college students to middle-aged adults to octogenarians; with
parents, individuals, couples, families, students, veterans, inmates, substance abusers, teens in state’s custody, trauma survivors, adoptees, LGBTQ individuals, immigrants, and people of diverse
religious or non-religious backgrounds. For me, being with people in therapy is a privilege because I
get to see the best of them as they heal, learn, and grow.

I am EMDR trained and have been working with those overcoming various forms of trauma since the
beginning of my career. I have also worked with people dealing with depression, anxiety, attachment
issues, relationships issues, anger, mood disorders, ADHD, life transitions, faith transitions,
substance, and behavioral addictions, navigating gender and sexuality, among other things. I am an
attachment-focused therapist who considers the effects your attachment styles/history and quality of relationships have on your overall wellbeing. I also use concepts and techniques from motivational
interviewing, CBT, DBT, ACT, EFT, IFS, and art therapy. I believe in a holistic approach to mental
health that involves marshaling all forms of self-care: mindfulness, diet, exercise, sports, dance, art,
music, hobbies, community, etc. I am happy to coordinate (with your permission) with your other
counseling or medical providers to make sure you get the best care possible.

I see children as young as 10 and as old as 110.
